Meghan and Christopher's Wedding at Holly Run Church in Maryland

I usually meet with a couple a year in advance for our first planning time to begin the relationship between photographer and client.  There are countless phone calls, e-mails, itinerary and timeline discussions for the special day; however leading up to this wedding, the planning phase was quite different. Our couple, Meghan and Christopher, never met with me face to face. While this is not out of the ordinary for some people, I really enjoy the process of planning and developing the relationship and the trust that a couple develops for me and my work. Besides a few introductory e-mails, we only had one call, a mere week before the big day. After a speaking with Meghan and Chris, any reservations I might have had fell away. With just that thirty minute conversation, I formed the bond that is so important. Once they let me in on their ideas and visions and shared the story of their romance, I knew they were an amazing couple and I was lucky for this opportunity!

The ceremony took place at Holly Run Church, first established in 1828 and relocated to its current site in 1967. The church has seen continual restoration over the years. In 2004, a lightning strike caused a fire in the roof and ceiling, however very little of the structure was damaged. The congregation quickly restored the building and enlisted Ronald Spencer, a Baltimore Artist, to recreate his detailed stenciling inside the church. This amazing 19th century house of worship stands preserved as a community-enriching artifact. Holly Run is still used for special services. This beautiful historic space lent itself to the intimate family gathering of Christopher and Meghan’s wedding.

The ceremony music was provided by Chris’s Aunt and Cousin.

The minister has been a long-standing friend of the family. Having arrived early and discussing the history of the church, I felt the strength and connection our couple had with their community. This truly, was an amazing part of the day that inspired me.

Rachel and Ryan's Portrait at the Baltimore Inner Harbor

Rachel and Ryan’s 2011 wedding will be “staged” at the Hippodrome Theatre and they wanted their engagement pictures to be done downtown as well.  It doesn’t get much better than a gorgeous day at the harbor!  They love the water and were game to have fun with the little harbor boats, hang out near the National Aquarium, and gaze deeply at one another. I discovered playful personalities in both of them when out of the blue, Rachel started jumping and Ryan quickly joined her.  Fun pictures!  Rachel’s professional career also intersects with weddings and events.  She owns “Kindly R.S.V.P. Designs“, a company that produces great custom invitations and much more.  Check out her website, the address is the biz name.  Our husband-and-wife-to-be are eagerly looking forward to their big day at the Hippodrome and lots of fun with their families and friends.

Steve and Josie’s Wedding At Geneva Farms

Flower Petals and Glass Decoration

The Geneva Farm Golf Course, located in Street, MD (Harford County), provided a quaint yet equally stunning setting for Josie and Steve’s wedding in mid July.  Although a rather hot summer day it couldn’t have been more beautiful.

Flowers Red Roses Beaded Basket

Elegance and simplicity marked this wonderful celebration on every level, from the choice of the location, to Josie’s dress, her pink bouquet of roses, the reception and everything in between.

With only about 40 guests, it was a very intimate wedding celebration. Surrounded by their family members and close friends, Josie and Steve exchanged vows in a heartwarming and emotional outdoor ceremony. An abundance of trees enveloped the ceremony site, providing plenty of cool shade for the couple and guests alike.

As guests made their way inside after the ceremony, the couple stepped off to the side, indulging in having just been wed. As if nothing else existed around them, Josie and Steve enjoyed a few intimate moments, which I was lucky enough to capture.

Shortly thereafter, we went on to explore the plethora of settings at Geneva Farm grounds, which provided a great variety of scenic backdrops for portraits of the couple. Beautiful inside and out, Josie and Steve were a pleasure to photograph and simply to be around.
